FLEUR YOUR INFORMATION: VILLA CIMBRONE ENGAGEMENT

One gorgeous couple, three days, and multiple destinations along the Amalfi Coast – what more could a bride ask for? LFDJ’s head florist Genevieve recounts her experience working on this instagram-worthy shoot straight out of your most blissful daydreams.

Where and when did this event take place? What was the occasion?

August 2017 at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, Italy. Addy and Edmund got engaged and decided to celebrate with a pre-wedding shoot on the Amalfi Coast.

What was your inspiration behind this floral design?

The location is always a big influence, especially in this case when it’s somewhere so naturally stunning like the Amalfi Coast. And of course, I was inspired by Addy (the bride) and her wedding planner, Federica. They wanted to capture the old world charm of Italy through a soft, feminine lens. With that in mind, we used dusty rose and mauve tones to bring depth to a blush, champagne, and white base palette.

What flowers did you use to create this look?

Quicksand garden roses, hellebores, ferns, ranunculus, honeysuckle and locally-foraged textural and greenery elements.

What other elements contributed to the overall aesthetic that you created?

We foraged a handful of earthy textures from the hillsides of Amalfi, which really brought everything together. I think it’s important to include locally-grown products to the overall aesthetic whenever possible. It brings cohesion to the space and keeps it from looking “staged.” And when you have a location like this, you want to utilize it in the design as much as possible.

Use three words to describe the vibe you were going for for this event.

Elegant, organic, and feminine.

What was your favorite part about putting this together?

Traveling to Italy! What a gorgeous, magical place!

Any other interesting details you can share with us about this event and/or this particular process?

This was a fantastic learning opportunity for me as a designer. I learned so much about the process of sourcing flowers and supplies in a foreign country. It was a three day event in different locations along the Amalfi Coast – some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! The bride had several different dresses and we designed different floral pieces for each these different vignettes. It was a new challenge putting it all together but also a dream come true as a floral designer. I want to go back and do it all over again!
